My remodeling career started in Highschool
With FFA Future Farmers of America.

Call me to brainstorm your ideas for your remodeling project!
Or if you are a Do-It-Yourselfer (DIY), I can be your coach and show you how to do it!
Come stroll down memory lane with me.
Yes, I grew up on a farm in Lawrence County TN.
I watched my dad, James Loyd Jolly and my grandpa, Lottie D Hardiman as they did all the repair work on the Farm Equipment, Land Management, our Home, and the Barn.
When I went to Highschool, it was a natural thing to do to join FFA Future Farmers of America.
They taught me all the basics about farming, welding, electrical, plumbing, and especially carpentry.
All the subjects were my favorites, but I enjoyed working with wood and remodeling the most.
Every house has them, "Rafters".  We had rafter cutting contest using a tape measure, carpentry square, pencil, handsaw, hammer and nails.  The cuts had to be perfect in every direction.  I WON THE CONTEST!

Our Home in Columbia TN:
The house was built in the 1950's.   Since then I have remodeled and improved all of it inside, outside, under the house, attic which is now two bedrooms, electrical, plumbing, and roof.
I have added an addition to the back of the house which gives us a second bathroom, utility room, and new kitchen.

THE FOLLOWING STORY IS TO SHOW YOU ALL THAT I HAVE REMODELED MOSTLY BY MYSELF.
Call me to discuss your remodeling wishes.  Would love to talk with you!

We started our remodel under the house: Look at the pictures below:
1. we started by creating a new opening under the house for easier access.
2. I jacked the house up off the foundation, then replaced a lot of rotten joist with new pressure treated joist.
3. We rewired the house with a new 200 Amp service box (I hired this job out,)
4. We replaced all the exit plumbing all the way out to the road. (I hired this job out.)
5. We added a new HVAC unit and ductwork under the house. (I Hired this job out.)
6. We cleaned out the old wood and insulation that had fell over the years and put new plastic on the ground.

We added an 8 ft x 30 ft addition on the back of the old house.  Look at pictures below:
1. I dug the foundation, added rebar, had the concrete footer poured, laid the blocks myself, (level and true).
2. Cut and installed the floor joist and subflooring.
3. Installed the outer walls.
4. Installed a new load bearing beam for the old roof and removed the old outer wall.
5. Installed the ceiling joist, new roof joist and then installed the new roof.
6. Finished out the inside walls, drywalled and painted the new rooms.
7. Added new rough plumbing and electrical, and added new gas water heater and kitchen cabinets.
8. It still looks great today and the new roof does not sag!!!

Let's change the attic storage into two new bedrooms,  Look at pictures below:
1. First, the old attic stairway was inside a closet, and a closet was below the old stairs.
2. I removed all the stairway walls and put in a new floor and removed the old staircase.
3. I built a new see-through stairway and went upstairs to do some major remodeling.
4. The ceiling was only 6 foot high, so I removed the old ceiling and added a new ceiling at 7 foot high.
5. I added twin closets and access to side attic storage on both sides.
6. New walls and doors to close up the rooms, added new drywall, new windows, and new flooring.
7. And WALAH!  Two new bedrooms!

Next we cleaned up the old bedrooms.  See pictures below:
1. Basically we painted the walls and painted all the trim the same color, White.
2. I put all new insulated windows in the entire house.  What a difference in climate control!
3. Some of the rooms had the old outdated popcorn ceilings, I removed it, smoothed the ceiling and painted.
4. Our Master Bedroom needed more work.  I removed the outside walls, added more electrical plugs.
5. I took out the old 1950 insulation and added new clean R17 insulation and plastic barrier.
6. We tore out old small 30 inch closet door and added a load bearing beam over new 6 foot doors.
7. Then we added a hand made closet organizer and lights in the closet.  Super Improvement.
8. Added new drywall, new trim and new paint all around.

The main bathroom got a face lift too!
New pedestal sink, new mirrors, new cabinet behind commode, and a new floor.
